Friend

At a time in my life when there was no blue sky

I found solace from you when I wanted to cry

You took me by the hand when I just knew you wouldn’t care

And welcomed me in your heart, on a wing and a prayer

We raised our kids together, while they were very young

I had a boy and a girl and you had two handsome sons

It’s only been a short time since we reconnected after those years

And now my heart is aching and my eyes are filled with tears

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a friend like you

And now you are transitioning and I don’t know what to do

There is one thing I’d like to leave with you, an important thing to know

Joshua 1:9 says that God will be with you wherever you may go

They say it doesn’t matter how you begin, but how you end

But an ending can be painful when it is a loss of a dear friend
