I wrote this poem while recovering from substance addiction.
Come and sit with me on this very day
and listen to my soul I say
Inside of me, a surprise for you
Beneath closed petals, hidden from view
A vision so lovely, I gently release
I'll give of me to you, piece by piece
Come and sit with me, watch me grow
With loving encouragement, my petals unfold
My fragrance is loosed into the air
My layers stretch heavenward, unaware
My growing pains you may never see
But this is simply as it should be
Come and sit with me, watch me bloom
The result of my journey will come to pass soon
Turn me, twirl me, see what you see
With nurturing patience, I have become me
Pick me not from my garden, I have much to say
To any and many who must too pass this way!
