It's high time that we vote every current member of the present Congress out of office. Their greed and selfishness is rampant and it's time to scream, "NO MORE." VOTE NO ONE IN that supports the current salary and retirement policy that is now in place. The USA is our country and it's time to take it back. Not for our sakes but for the sake of our children.
My boy simply walked over to me
A familiar chain in his hand
Said, "Dad, what are these tags that I found?
Mom said they belonged to a brave man."
I slowly took them from his hand
Looking at them I saw his name
"They were my Grandpa's Army dog tags
Their meaning I'll try to explain.
"These were from days of tyranny,
When evil tried to rule us all
When men like your Grandfather fought
To keep us free though many did fall"
Then from his pocket he took out
Another set that bore my name
Said, "Dad, you may need these again
I feel evil's making big gain
"Are the people we call Congress
Really a danger to us all
Dad, will you fight to protect me?
Just please, don't be the one that falls"
I looked him squarely in they eyes
Knowing that I would gladly give
Give up my life for my country
So that children may freely live
Look in the eyes of a small child
Of their fears be sure you take note
Tell them their future's guaranteed
Before you cast a fateful vote
For that is the risk that we take
Should there be a shadow of doubt
In just who's trying to lead us
Freedom is what it's all about
Never put the children at risk
Please listen to that little voice
We are the ones that vote for them
Friends, be sure to make the right choice
Well-written and sadly, so true. Our children are being betrayed not only concerning their financial futures, but the loss of decency and common sense that is being force-fed to them.
God knows all about it. We must trust Him and pray for His will.
There's so much misinformation out there that it's hard to decide what to decide. You're right that when our leaders put money above their hearts they put us all in danger.
I don't believe we are in more danger now than we were during the twentieth century when we went through horrendous times that were less well reported then today.
If we teach our children to be strong and responsible, they will take care of themselves. I see so many fearful parents hovering over their children and not giving them an opportunity to play freely and learn from their own mistakes. Before long, I will see anxious parents taking college courses for their children because they don't want them to fail in college. Making them guaranteed to fail in life.
Good reflective poem. I grew up admiring John Wayne and later on I loved the Rocky movie series. Today kids are hooked on Sponge Bob and most don't know General Patton from General Mills. When the president does not know that we have 50 states we are in a bad state. Some want to impeach him but what who will take his place? O-bite-Him oh no? I don't this that's an improvement.
Those in Congress and the Senate play a dirty game. Greed is foremost on there agenda. Really both party's are to blame. Does the greedy care for our children? I think not.
