My Lady

The choice of not going on.

In darker glade
as moonbeams shown,
my lady made
her way alone.

From stony brook
to palisade,
a path she took
through Evening Shade.

Berries gathered,
much more than three,
a dose to dread
in nightly tea.

She's lonely here;
her choice was made,
and Death was near
in Evening Shade.

Wow! This reminds me of my poems and short stories about my first wife, who died of cancer. It was not easy to write about her passing but it certainly helped heal some wounds. Well done Terry! John M.D.
