This is not the greatest poem I ever wrote. For Ressa and Cameron.

The greatest poem I ever wrote
was a collaboration
Two rhyming stanzas filled with hope
both penned in sperm and ovum

The first stanza was bittersweet
and vibrant and untarnished
but it ended far too soon
and it remains unfinished

I held the future in my hands
and wished that it would linger
She held my future in her hands
but it slipped through her fingers

The second stanza is a work
of pain and perseverance
And in the reader, it inspires
a sense of awe and reverence

I hold the future in my hands
and watch it daily growing
He holds my future in his hands
and sets my life a-glowing

The greatest poem I ever wrote
was penned in egg and semen
The greatest poem I ever wrote
is mostly still unwritten

The greatest poem you ever wrote continues to amaze me... And what a work of art I expect it will be when it is finished... Just think, this "poem" is half-way to perfection!

Leo - The more of your poems I read, the more impressed I am. This is a sad and beautiful poem. It breathes experience, filled with profundity instead of sentimentality.- David

Witty, and totally enchanting. More than anything in your poem I feel the joy of words and the feelings that compel their formation.

Children and the emotions they stir within us are poetry in the finest sense.

A beautiful poem, Leo.
