Ever notice
how some people
bounce in and out
of your life
like a red rubber ball?
Just about the time
your life settles down,
they'll careen back in
with no warning.
I know someone
just like that
and I never know
which walls
he'll glance off of.
I do know
before bouncing
out again
he'll almost certainly
leave more dents
in my siding,
chips in my
protective veneer,
and if I'm lucky,
only a few more
lovely footprints
on my heart
but I'm developing
a very bad allergy
to red rubber balls ...
Hi C.J. I've heard of such people...as my old friend would say, "They're a dim a dozen..." Knowing me, I would probably tell them quite politely to take a hike...a long one off a short peer...and hope they're not really good swimmers! No point associating with bad rubbish, right? :)
Anyway, that aside, there is a lot of truth to your words.

I find such people abusive, they take what they think is theirs by right. I am very allergic to them. Great imagery in an excellent poem. Victor
