Oh, come here, I suppose you can.

Running outside in my bare feet,
My precious ice cream running down my face
It feels so good all over my cheeks.

I'm bored I'll listen to what the grown-ups say.
"Do you believe it, gas may go up to one dollar?""
"No, if that ever happens, I'm not driving, no way!"

Knocking on my friend's door in the warm summer eve,
Daylight savings time is here,  get to go to bed late
Would you c'mon, we're gonna play soft ball in the street!

I know!  Let's go catch some lightening bugs, lot of them tonight.
Look, I have more than you…you couldn't catch them if you wanted to.
Oh, darn, Mom wants us to come in.  She said don't shut
the front door
 Gonna be a hot one tonight

Travelling to Baltimore, finally got enough green stamps from the
store.  I remember pasting all the stamps in the books.   Now
Mom can get whatever she wants.

Twenty years ahead……

Why don't you go outside and play?  It's such a beautiful day.
No, Mom, can't do that, got a brand new video game.

Would you just look at this credit card bill…where does
the money go?  But I have all I want and at least don't
have to wait like Mom for months.

Did you remember to lock the front door?
You just can't trust anyone anymore.
