I do not know who enjoyed snow days more me, or the kids!!

Leaves like fire
blazing from the trees
Red and gold flames
that fills the hills around me
with the colors that bring
the coolness of autumn
the promise of cold
the hope that comes with
the winter white snow

mornings spent glues
to the TV
hoping to hear the most
beautiful words a child can here
while getting ready for school
and it is always followed
by screams of joy
SNOW DAY!!!


The aroma of fires
Keeping us warm
the taste of hot chocolate
and the sweetness of smores
remembering the days
when we would play
outside with the children
in our glory days

Snow angels and igloos
in the front yard
made by children in snowsuits
that looked so round!
mittens and hats and boot and scarves
and little red cheeks
that warmed our hearts

Savoring each moment
knowing how soon
they will grow up
and leave all too soon

but when they think back
to the days that they heard
the most beautiful words
a child ever heard
SNOW DAY!
A gift from above
days filled with cold,
laughter and love
