Beautiful Souls spirited away
lost in the miasma of early dawn's grey
children weep and mothers moan
as hearts untended turn to stone
the fell whistle of mortars
the blast of bombs and destruction
the chatter of automatic fire
the lust of carnal desire
the tapestry of terror
painted with blood
who knows who the heros are
when life is lost both near and far
soot-stained skies awash with flames
deny the righteousness of those who blame
an eye for an eye
a tooth for a tooth
the sties blind at birth
and there's no room for
THE TRUTH.
Who knows who is right and wrong, when everyone is right and wrong? When it comes down to picking a side, should we pick the side we know, or the side we understand? If they're on opposing sides, the resultant cognitive dissonance leaves many with little choice but to remain in the middle, vacillating, while the world goes to Hell around them.
But for some others, Souls of Light and Strength, able to choose the Right, the decision awakens the wrath of the Self-righteous. For those True Spirits, Heaven awaits, on the other side of Life. Truly, ~1 Love
It's the perception of the minds that do the work.
You are very creative. I like this poem! I'm so glad that I have not missed commenting on this one.

If we really knew, what we think we know, the world would be a better place. Ah, but then that would be heavenly, wouldn't it. I appreciated this splendid poem about a very complex issue.
