Do you ever wonder where I am and what I do
Like the way I wonder about you?
Do your arms ever long to reach out and hold me close
Like the way mine long to hold you tight?
Do you ever remember my voice
And the way I look into your eyes
When you softly whisper sweet nothings
While your eyes bore into mine?
Do you ever imagine how it feels
To constantly long to lay down beside you
And kiss your lips, to once again
Taste that endless bliss and sweetness?
I keep wondering
Like a fool who blindly seeks
A never ending reality
That somehow…
I need to stop this exercise of futility.

This is very heartfelt and full of pain with the ending being the punch line. There are many of us that have had more than our share of exercises in futility, only to go back and exercise again. This poem shows the thoughts of a person who is wondering why she/he keeps going through that exercise of futility. All I can Sheri is, we have all been there a time or two, maybe more. Thank you for sharing.

Yes!
It's been highly successful in sales, most likely since an enormous number of women endure the same feelings you express in "Exercise Of Futility."
But while the book takes a somewhat clinical approach, your posted work shares deep feelings with us. I like your version better!
