I walked back in time today
Visited a place that housed unhealed wounds
That still after many years
Seeps liquids of untold secrets
After coverings of disguised bandages
In need of permanent closures
Wanting the gaping holes closed… finally
I went back
To the place, where abuse lived
Where love was supposed to be
I peeped into windows of a yesteryear prison
Whose walls echoed sounds
Of fear’s final release
One cold December morn.
As I peep into those windows, memories rebound
As wounds tremble from the commotion
I see a babe’s face
And little frightened eyes
As a plate crumbles against a now quiet wall
Thrown by crazed hands
Hands controlled by fear,
Fear turned into anger, anger into hate
Hatred for a world that hid its compassion
A world that the little frightened eyes
Had nothing to do with
More memories…
The awakening of an underlying strength
That emerged that day the plate struck the wall
A strength in knowing that
Had those hands
Whose strike familiar to this frame
Had those same angry, world-hating hands
Come in contact with the smooth little
Frame that surrounded
Frightened little eyes
Death was imminent… sure to visit that day
The strength remained,
Along with the knowledge that
The fearful, angry, hateful hands
And the renewed strength
Carried no mutuality of existence
Amidst the then screaming walls
It was time to return to me
But, before I could abscond,
They again struck
And ended up lying in their own
Pool of liquid fear.. My wounds now hold permanent closure.
NOT AN EASY THING TO DO...GOING BACK...LOOKING INTO THOSE WINDOWS BUT...INDEED, EVEN THOUGH SCARS STILL DO REMAIN...IT IS SO NECESSARY FOR THE HEALING OF THOSE GAPING 'WOUNDS'. Very deep and heartfelt. It is always hard to get over things that caused you great pain but you will forever being strong for having had the experience.
Wow! What a tremendous out pouring of raw emotions. Written so superbly. I think most people have wounds that linger long, heal slowly, and always leave a telltale scar. Thankfuly for most of us, those scars become the steps of the ladder in our climb that leads to our view of understanding and forgiveness. I fell the pain and raw emotion in your poem. Fantasticly written and it brings back some memories of a place I always called "Hell's House", but I am older now and try not to give it much credence anymore. Well written piece expressing the emotions of healing, God bless....
Be always safe,

Beautiful and touching poem about the circle of healing. Sometimes it doesn't come as fast as we want it, but when it does, that closure is oh so blessed. Blessings to you, Deborah
I met Jerome on a busy city street in Baltimore, Maryland, when he was forty-five years old. On that particular day, I was out and about, enjoying a much-needed day off from work.
I wanted to purchase a sukiyaki sub. I parked my car in an area of
