I was asked if I would write a poem for a man who lost contact, many years ago, with his unwed and pregnant girlfriend. He looked but never found them. His daughter found him when he had only a short time to live. He didn't know what to say so he gave her this.
Time and fate have played their hands And days have turned to years I sought but could not find you To wipe your lonely tears Think not, I didn’t love you For my heart faced many fears This day that you have found me Is the day our love is clear You never gave up looking And our lives rejoining here For never shall I leave again As an Angel I’ll be near 11 Mar 2011 ©Copyright 2011 by Ed J All rights reserved

So poignant.

My uncle disappeared (with his girlfriend�unsubstantiated at the time) in 1962. When one of her five children found them in 2006, he had died in 1995, and she died in 2005. Too late for poems. Fortunately, they left their home to neighbors still filled with pictures and mementos of their fugitive life. My uncle kept track of his five children through the local small-town paper, But, through all those years, he never contacted them with any remorse.

Oh how bittersweet our lives can be. At least he has some closure in this unforgotten part of his life.
Sweet words for him to convey to his loved one.
