Love is how I get by. I fall, and then I get up, bruised and bloodied, but it is real.

I open wounds for a living.
Love pays me in:
How do I get by?
After the sweats and struggles,
I have a body after all,
And it collapses next to yours.
I laid there for a long time.
I bled continuously.
I forgot you lay next to me.
The people walk by.
They feed me compliments
Because I am skinny.
I tell them I am starving,
But they never feed me.
They say I am to prepare
For the fight.
How tired I am!
My belly squirms.
I fear I may be pregnant
From a fantasy
And the baby will be taken from me
By a handsome stranger.
But I find bread crumbs
Leading me to your shadow.
I turn my head,
And there I hide,
Stuffing my cheeks.
When the sun rises,
You are still lying next to me,
And we are in a ring.
Their eyes blind me.
I cannot see.
I start throwing punches at nothing.
I open wounds for a living.
After the sweats and struggles,
I have a body after all,
And it collapses next to yours.

I love your beautiful metaphors, very picturesque, you say much in repetition like prayer beads, great poem! Bless you! Jasmin Horst

Interesting repetition of images that each time bring new elements into the poem.

Dreamlike atmosphere, but with real and symbolic pain.

This is my impression,

Axilea
