It's events like that, in a place where everyone looks to for peace and harmony, Australia, that when something like this happens, it makes your dream seem further away.
We are a crowded world. Poor populations tend to grow at a higher rate than the wealthy populations. Climate changes forcing many people to move. Clashes between strong ideologies like between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland can be ameliorated. But it is hard.
But what happened in Bondi has been going on with an eye for an eye for over 1500 years. Guns just make it easier for two people to kill 45 gathering like this of innocents. Even under strong control, civilian non-combatants own many more guns than they did when gun control was enacted, three or four times in the last 40 years.
Only when guns become obsolete and we put them down. will the killing by gun end.
