Inspired by the Photographs by Sebastio Salgado.

hanging from a hook lifted higher above the ground

like leaves hanging from an over burden tree

laden with forbidden fruit

my brothers sisters and me

I wonder as I hang there

can this be real am i truly hanging here

I watch them as they move down the line

one by one they begin to remove  organs

 bladder and spleen

intestines long and lean

they gorge  without care or thought

as they venture to remove a heart

waiting for my turn

my ass up in the air and my head towards the earth

lined up in a row hanging from a nail

my brothers my sisters and me

someday soon someone's meal we will be

my brothers and sisters and me.

This was a fantastic perspective to write from. I do eat meat, and I do know what happens in slaughterhouses, and this is a real eye-opener for those who don't. Thanks for this, it is unique indeed.
