Hope

Wishing Well
Jim Stewart c 2017

I guess I always wished,
I knew what was in that well.
That made it so magical.
For a mere penny
Your wish could come true .
Imagine that.
A mere penny.
What a bargain.

I wondered if it was only good,
for one wish.
One wish to a customer.
Or could it be good for multiple wishes.

As a young boy who liked to dream
My world was full of hope.
No, I'm gonna save up
For one big wish.

Everyday I passed that well,
Just waiting for the right wish to come along.
Then one day it happened.
I new just what I wanted.
I ran up to that well.
Looked inside.
Then it happened.
I closed my eyes, made my wish
And tossed my penny in that well.

Now here I am years later
Still waiting on an answer.
But, I know ,
If I can sill dream and hope,
That one day, Yes one day.

My wish will come true .

We do keep hoping always, don't we? Those of us who never give up, I mean? I want to put a wishing well next to the neighborhood library we have at our curb. All people need a wishing well. Enjoyed this walk with you.

Hope springs eternal. But wishing on a well is like praying. We had to do something to get it done. There's no one or anything that can get it done for us. We have to do it ourselves.

philosophically, this 'dark cave' (your well) can never be decoded; otherwise, the black hole will gulp us all, with our dreams and unrealized hopes. Cheers, alex
