A crackling noise cuts through the dawn And the storm roars on She whimpers and threatens to leave him She won’t shut up so he slaps her again She cries over a love that is gone And the storm roars on He goes to the fridge and finds a beer She grabs her purse; she’s getting out of here Slaps her again, she’s a worthless pawn
And the storm roars on She crawls to phone; makes a call out of fear Tells her he’s sorry, won’t happen again Dear Police arrive; She smiles, holding her son And the storm brews She tells him she’ll do better; It’ll be all right They hug, they cuddle, love through the night Forgiveness is the Godly thing to do

this is very astute and unfortunately, too often the case. an abused woman eventually starts to think it is all her fault and the only thing that really is...not leaving when she has the chance. i hope this isn't about you
