You came to me every night in dreams
You always knew the right words to speak
Your face held all the beauty of the world
Your touch brought passion to a peak

Beautiful angel of my dreams
When would we chance to meet
I knew in my mind that you were real
I’d lay my body at your feet

Then it happened not long ago
As I searched the crowds for you
Our spirits touched, you were there
All my dreams came true

We talked and dreams came to life
You knew the right words to speak
You reached out and touched me
Brought passion to its’ peak

My God we were lovers, we were friends
You filled the core of my soul
You became the world in which I existed
You fit perfectly into my mold

You controlled my every breath
I gave you control over my life
You controlled every part of me
You ask me to be your wife

I blinded myself to every fault
That others saw in you
All the lies you told each day
To me they were true

The more I gave the more you wanted
Of my mind and my soul
Each day another part of me
Was there for you to hold

I started seeing through you
In your eyes I saw the truth
Your beauty became an ugly beast
I wanted to break loose

When you were confronted
By the strength of who I am
Your love turned to hatred
You swore than I was damned

I tried so hard to break away
From the hold you had on me
Said you’d rather kill me
Than to see me set free

I fled from your evilness
In the middle of the night
I want to turn my dark world
Into one filled with light

Beware of your dreams
They might come true .

Ahhh. Even Satan appears as an Angel of Light. ;-)

We often cast our wishes upon another and paint illusions of the ideal lover over a beast. Good poem. ~~~Nordette

This is such an intense poem and I read it twice over to capture its essence. How love can blind one to the faults and flaws of another human being and you give yourself over to them completely, only to be trapped and unable to break free. I am glad you had the presence of mind and strength to get out. I applaud you for that and for writing such a great poem.

These are such profound and educational word. What we wish for blinds us to their faults that everybody except us can see. I have been very guilty of thinking my dream came true only to realize that I was sharing my bed with Medusa. Good.

I wonder how many women or for that matter men find this out to be true.
