Little Vampire Baby

Tapping on the window
I see him every day
Waiting for the sun to set
So I can run and play

“Come on out, it’s almost dark,
The sky, it looks so clear.”
“My Little Vampire Baby”
Are the words I live to hear.

Of course it’s all a family joke
A silly game we play
“Can you come out by yourself?
Pretend Lupus has gone away.”

The sun is my worst enemy.
For Lupus this is a test.
The wolf hides inside of me.
In sunlight he will not rest.

My husband and I
Are bonded as one
But we no longer
Frolic in the sun.

This one is cool as hell; did anyone tell you that you have a really dark imagination. Don't worry they say that of me as well. You do have a mind for this sort of thing.

Oh, so true, Sherry! Our daughter has, for years, called me her "Vampire Mamma". Thank you for allowing us to share this with you and your hubby! God bless!

Mary

Sherry, this verse shows that you and your husband are able to find joy in life and each other, no matter the circumstances. It's so clear that life with lupus can be reimagined and reivented, when we lead with our spirits.
In one poem, you manage to lift my spirit and tickle my fancy ~ you're a beaut!

What a great poem. It's taught me more about lupus and the effects it can have. I, too, am so glad that I have met Sherry thru the internet. She has enriched my life with her poems and stories.

Ah, the sun. Golden globe and hot as an oven. I like frolicking at night. It makes all the rough edges disappear and makes the world magical. Kinda like Sherry and her poems. Instead of a magic wand...she has a magic pen. Thanks friend...you are a wonder.

An excellent poem dealing with lupus and how it changes a person life. Even the simple act of going outside in the sun that many take for granted, can wreak havoc for those with lupus. I know, I have SLE. I also have been blessed with knowing this wonderful lady, Sherry, and calling her friend.
