Fine ladies I met at West Barre,

None too agile, but merry,

They sit and they munch,

On their organized lunch,

And forever afterwards, tarry.

I applaud these ladies I met,

Though I hardly know them, as yet,

For they don’t give a care,

Just as long as they’re there,

And Oh, what a table they set!

You may wonder what I’m set to say,

Bout the West Barre ladies today,

For if truth be it told,

I find them quite bold,

And hope they forever will stay.

What is it I’m thinking about,

When the West Barre ladies’ lunch out?

When I get to their age,

(If not locked in a cage,)

I’ll not give a care,

As long as I’m there,

Recalling their spirit, no doubt.
