Poem Artwork

Days are filled with people and work

Hustling to get from one place to another

Paper work piles on the desk to do

Clients sitting in chairs waiting for you

The days slip on by so quickly

We don’t seem to notice where time went

We talk and laugh and joke

With all of our work friends

The road home is so busy

No time to think at all

Driving your car in the rush

People jamming the malls

Dinner with family and friends

Laughter and joy abound

Food cooked to perfection

Passing the plates all around

The nights are the hardest

When it is silent and all are gone

You are alone then to

Let your mind roam

This is the time you are afraid

To think of what is in store for you

Afraid to close your eyes and sleep

‘cause the nightmares begin anew

The devil rejoices in tormenting

When you are not strong

He waits till your eyes close

His fun will have begun

He knows you are afraid

So he dwells on that fear

Taking you deep into his bosom

Watching as your sleepy eyes tear

Different scenarios enter your mind

Stealing into your dreams

You toss and turn

All is not as it seems

Then I awaken in a sweat

I hear myself say, ”No, No”

“Go away let me be”

“Stop tormenting me.”

Yes, the nights are the hardest

It seems they are there to stay

You wish for the morning light

So the nightmares go away

THIS WAS WRITTEN IN 2010. I AM WILLING TO WAGER THAT BECAUSE OF WHAT GOD HAS BROUGHT YOU THROUGH AND WHERE YOU ARE TODAY...THIS OUTLOOK HAS CHANGED ENTIRELY. FOR NOW YOU'VE BEEN THROUGH THE FLOODS AND THE FIRE AND YOU KNOW, WITHOUT A DOUBT, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE...BUT GOD!(IS 43:1-2)
THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

The silence and solitude can cause such distress...I think most people can relate to this well-written piece, Kathy. ~Hugs, Elizabeth

I empathize with what you have expressed in this write, Kathi. I had nightmares as a child but thankfully, they are very rare for me now. But there at times sleepless nights when one is alone with one's thoughts. Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

Skillfully written and full of expression!
Hey, do you have a dog? I bring my dog up on the bed when I'm alone, and the other thing is you could sleep with sachets in your pillows, full of calming herbs. I like to sleep with the whole room smelling like a piece of pie or a garden.
Blessings,
Christine

Yes I think as humans we crave the warmth and union of another especially in the dark of night.

Yes the night has too much silence in it that thoughts can keep you awake and the devil is always there looking for another victim to his schemes. This is the time for prayer,

Yes, the night can bring dread, especially when you're under stress, or frightened of the dark.

But sleep can be more exciting than being awake; the power of dreams: last night, I slept with Kate Bush, but criticized her for being middle-class, and then, dammit! woke up.

Dreams; everyone of us has a heaven inside! :-)

Well said, Kathy. The nights are always the hardest when my mind relaxes and thoughts that were hiden by the time and actions of the day are put to sleep, when then opens the corners of my mind that held the dark thoughts of night at bay.
Your friend, Mark
