I Can!
The child fell down , cried
I knelt down, talked and talked
Could not mitigate her pain.
I saw my friend sad; he lost a dear one
I sat by his side and talked and talked
Could not bring the lost one back.
I saw a beggar, tattered and battered
I gave him some money and consoled him
Could not make him better—beggar he remained.
I met a friend: her child was not well
I talked and talked about ways of world, and those of god to men.
Could not cure the child.
I saw a ‘silly’ lizard limping the other day.
I bent down and tried to help it.
Both of us knew that I was of no help
I prayed for its cure—that seems to be the only thing
I am capable of –just wish and pray.
Otherwise I am a very powerful man.
