Such Mush
I just watched The Replacements.
It is a stupid movie that I simply love.
A bunch of “never was” guys who became
One-day heroes
And found a family not limited by blood
But bound by heart.
I am such a sentimental old fart.
I am full of such mush.
Somewhere in my core, I still believe in:
God
Love
Heroes
Mother
Father
Son
Daughter
Brother
Sister
Politicians who care about America
Patriotism
Companies which succeed because they care about people, not just profit
Art
Music
Sports
Prayer
Passion
History
Future
Dreams
Fantasy
Touching
Hugging
Spanking
Healing
Pulling together
Connected spirits
Demons
The underdog winning
Hope
Effort that is rewarded
Jousting with windmills
Fighting the good fight
Losing with grace
Winning with grace
Getting up the second, the third, the fourth, and even the last time.
Cleansing tears
Tears of joy
A belly-laugh
Holding
Sitting quietly together knowing it matters
A walk in the woods
Looking at a cloud
Listening to the birds
Holding a baby
And seeing your future.
I am such a fool.
I am such a mush.
Each day of my life I feel one of some of these.
Some simply exist no longer
I cry when I let myself miss them,
But I remind myself that
If I have even one of them, once in a while,
Once each day of my life,
That life is good and worth the struggle.
One out of all of them ain’t bad.
See? I told you.
Have you ever heard
Such mush?
