If theres one thing I'll always remember about you,
it is that one word that you refused to listen to.
It was always so funny, you'd plug your ears and hum a tune
Whenever I wanted to say goodbye, you'd yell to me, "SEE YOU SOON!"
You hated telling people goodbye, something about it didn't set right,
Maybe it was just something that your subconscience had to fight,
But I think in some way, you knew it would help me out in the end,
It's really helped me out since you've left me friend...
You never even showed that you were feeling bad,
You got a little quiet...but you never showed anybody what you had.
Sometimes I wonder how you kept your spirits so high,
But I remember thats just how you were, I had never seen you cry.
Nobody knew about your condition until it was too late,
The doctors said that you had surely met your fate.
But somehow friend, even though you were in you death bed,
You seemed so happy somehow...and I'll never forget what you said...
You told me that even though you were about to die...
You said you didn't want to look down and see me cry,
How were you keeping that smile on your face? You were being so brave...
Many people would have lost it if they knew they were headed to their grave...
But somehow you weren't scared, you had the happiest look on your face.
You went on to explain that you were going to a better place...
You told me about heaven, and all the beautiful things you'd see...
It was like your were telling me a story...somehow YOU were comforting ME.
But then you slipped away...you died that night in your sleep...
Dreaming your beautiful dream, I never saw you weep...
For a while I was just numb, I didn't really know what to think...
I was sad, but the memory of your visions started to make me think...
Your words rang in my ears constantly...twenty-four seven...
I thought about all you had told me about that place called Heaven...
Although it was a good thing for you to pass away,
I could only feel my own sadness, I could only think about you all through the day...
I remember though...I was walking down the street on a rainy morning,
as usual, I could only think of you...I was just constantly mourning...
As I looked over my shoulder...I saw a mother kissing her son,
She was telling him to have fun at school, and to have lots of fun...
She told him goodbye...that word just stood out so strongly...
But that boy...he turned himself around very very quickly,
He looked at her and said to her so innocently, "Don't tell me goodbye mommy!"
I almost broke down crying...it was you telling me you still haven't said goodbye.
My friend...you've been with me thorugh thick and thin from the start...
and you'll always be with me forever more deep in my heart,
You and I may have drifted far away for a short time,
you'll always be here with me, until it comes to my time.
No matter where my life will take me to,
a part of me will always be with you,
I'll never shed a tear, and I'll never let you see me cry,
Because friend, we still haven't said goodbye.
