All too quickly life here on earth will be through,
So pay a visit to the little child who is still inside of you.
Spend a day remembering what it was to be young;
Forget about being an adult, just do things that are fun.
Allow your spirit and cheerful heart to sing any song,
Listening to the elevator music and then singing along.
Don’t worry so much about what other people think,
Like viewing life as bright red instead of lackluster pink.
Build sandcastles on the beach, using anything that’s handy,
Or ride a merry-go-round while eating blue cotton candy.
Roast marshmallows over a single candle’s flickering flame,
Or laugh and play hide and seek or any other children’s game
On a summer night, watch lightening bugs; put ‘em in a glass jar
Or just make a point to look into the dark and wish upon a star.
Blow a great big bubble after chewing three pieces of bubble gum,
And when you’re walking, think of a song that’s fun to hum.
Go from a walk to a skip while you’re humming that favorite tune,
And afterward soak in a tub until you’re wrinkled like a prune.
Get a multi-colored kite, and fly it high in the blue sky bright,
Allowing its ribbons to sway and swing at an elevated height.
Make a funny looking snowman from freshly fallen snow,
And then giggle and laugh until your cheeks feel a warm red glow.
The simple, but precious, times of life, those involving little cost,
Are often avoided, not thought about, overlooked or just plain lost.
But they can all be discovered again, if finding these joys is your goal,
For the incredible miracle of childhood is just resting within your soul.
