GREAT Q's WORK HERE, REGIS. ALWAYS GOOD TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER...THOSE 'PREDICTIONS' THAT MAY ...OR... MAY NOT HAVE TURNED OUT TO BE CORRECT. THANK YOU... LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
Smile ! I sure hope that some trees survive Regis, I cannot imagine a world without them, I am a tree hugger, nature lover and I do believe unless we begin to be more human to one another, we will lose our soul power. Thank you for sharing this delightful real poem, of awareness and truth. As for the hippies, they had the right idea, make love not war, :)
I couldn't have spoken it better. I've been telling people for 50 years to energy burning deaf ears. And Alberta has one of the largest tar sands oil recovery in the world, trying to push pipelines down into the United States and to ports where more, not necessarily cheaper, oil can be burned worldwide.
It's a vicious cycle. I recall hugging many a tree in my youth as I was shinning up and down them. Each different one having a different bark texture. But the tall canopy of street lining shade tree elms are all gone. Other species of trees are being attacked, too. And we continue to burn, baby burn as though we enjoy watching our Rome burn and the air turned black with acrid smoke breathing into our lungs while the weather goes crazy and the seas rise.
I have driven the entire length of BC (up into the Yukon Territories) twice. Some of the most beautiful topography I’ve ever seen. I can empathize with what you’re going through. Michele and I have been through wildfires 3 times in the last twenty years. It's a terribly unsettling experience. The Cedar Fire in 2003 destroyed much of where we hiked in the Cuyamaca Mountains. The Witch Creek Fire in 2007 had Michele and I watching a 200-foot wall of flames devouring the hills a mile and a half from our home. The Chariot Fire in 2013 saw the destruction of the cabin we stayed at regularly in the Laguna Mountains. For us it was a time of great soul searching and much prayer. I wish you well, Regis. Protect your lungs. r
A timely poem! I hope you are safe in Chilliwack. I heard there's fire over there. Keep yourself safe and healthy. Keep your windows closed. Hope you guys get some well-deserved rain soon.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
