From the thoughts of Sha'Tara...

The Magic of a Human Child

[Voice from the Other Side - Sha'Tara]

If we ponder human population resurgence, however much nature, gods and man himself try to cut down the numbers, we have to wonder.

Some say its a "biological imperative" but that's ridiculous.  Such an imperative would obey cyclical natural "laws" which humans would be unable to violate.

Nor can we accept the biblical exhortation to mankind to "be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth" as another reason, since most humans today have little use for the bible's fiats.  Also, with the knowledge that over 30,000 helpless babies and young children die each day, why would such a fiat be necessary?  Seems to me that is one biblical injunction mankind has taken to "heart" without much thought in the matter.

Sexual drive, however powerful, cannot be the cause either since there are countless contraceptive methods known.  Now you can have your cake and eat it too... hmmm...

Then there are those who propose that the vast majorities who live in poverty engender children in order to have them as security in old age.  Do we really think poor humans are stupid as well? You bring forth children you cannot feed and starve along with them as an old age security package?  Spare me that "stupid white man" thinking.

What then?  Magic.

A new life -particularly a human life for humans- is full of magical essences.  It could be said that most people involved in this new life fail to "see" the magic in the side unpleasantness and responsibilities, but then, earth is the planet of the magic-killers so let's not be surprised at this.  Nevertheless some of the magic happens, though hidden and silent.  Holding a baby or young child equates magic.

That magic is innocence.  In a well-ordained system, such innocence would be nurtured and protected, of course.  Here it is masterfully expunged from the individual, through religious, medical, governmental and social rituals designed exactly for that purpose.  Innocent beings make lousy slaves.  They don't jump to the carrot on the stick and don't understand the whip of power.  If left to their own devices, they are gentle and quiet.  They won't become greedy, won't demand, won't destroy and won't fight.  They won't consume things they have no need for.  Nor will they rush off to join the Big Machine, the Status Quo, the Competition.  Being alive is all they need.

Innocents are useless to the System.  So it is taken from them at the earliest possibility.  The magic is peeled away, layer by layer until the human is ready to take its place at the Wheel, to serve the Machine, mindless, heartless and often ruthless.

Innocence knows itself as an individual but not without others being on par with itself.  Innocents know that everything belongs to everyone.  They don't have to be taught this.  Only after their innocence has been stripped must they be re-programmed to care or to share and now it is no longer natural and is of little value and effect.

Last night I dreamt of being at an airport.  I had two packages with me: a child in a bundle and a bag, both colored blue, both about the same size.  In the commotion, the child-bundle disappeared and I went into pure panic.  I searched everywhere, madly, wildly, retracing my steps over and over.  I asked hundreds of people, watched for the blue bundle somewhere, anywhere.  Nothing.  I even woke up fully, sat in bed and told myself I was dreaming of my loss of innocence.  Still I went back into the dream to find that baby.  I never did.  But I know - I knew - I was being shown how I too had been stripped of my most valued attribute when I was still a child.  How my magic was taken away and I would never get it back in this life.  By the way, the other blue bundle stayed with me... of course -- it is the "me" now!

We have children in order to touch once more the magic that was taken from us only to lose it over again as we allow it being taken from these children as well.  Any wonder we are so lost?

A fascinating read, Regis. Should we then wonder why Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Mark 10:14
Innocence! A rare and powerful word!

I have got to tell you, Reg, that was poignant. I could not have said it better. Do you know what tears at my heart? Our young men are trained to become killers. I don't know what the answer to this is. Wars have been with us forever but this fact only makes what you write all the more poignant. Here is a twist. If those people worry about over population they should consider war as an easy way out. Let them be children and while they are not yet adult let them go to war. Their families will greeve but the population explosion will not be so exlosive. That is a rather synacle way to look at it. It also goes against everything I believe. You are right, we all have our innocence stripped from us too early in life.
That was a powerful write.
God Bless,
Lew
