So, here we go again...medication on top of medication...more medication on top of more medication...and never-ending medication (pharmaceuticles) etc...etc...etc...
"Everyone has a doctor in him or her...we just have to help with all its work. The natural healing force within each of us, is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine, and our medicine should be our food. But, to eat only when you are sick, is to feed your sickness." Hippocrates
I rarely tell people what's going on in my life, because they know everything! They know how to raise your kids; mow your lawn; what kind of vehicle to buy; what color to paint your house...etc. etc...etc. Sh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h don't tell anyone what I do for my health...this is just between you and me. I don't like to deal with the 'know-it-alls' of the world anyway!

For thousands of years, olive oil has been the principal source of dietary fat in much of the world. This fragrant, delicate oil is a staple in the 'Mediterrean Diet,' which provides about 30% to 40% of its calories from fat. Studies have shown that people who follow this European eating style, are at lower risk of developing heart disease and cancer, than those who dine on the American cuisine. Even better, many studies show that they live longer. So, why not add a little Mediterranean flavor to your meals?
My Two-Cents; (opinions)
I've never been a pill-popper, so why should I start now at the age of 64? I want to decrease my intake of drugs and chemicals...NOT to increase my intake of drugs and chemicals, etc. It is my feeling, that the more drugs or chemicals a person takes...the more at risk that person is to get cancer...cancer of the digestive tract...colon cancer; liver cancer; kidney cancer, etc. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to understand this point!
From: What's For Dinner.net; (healthy heart benefits)
Atherosclerosis (also called hardening of the arteries), occurs when particles of LDL stick to the walls of the arteries. Eventually, these particles build up and form plaque. This plaque narrows the blood vessels and increases the work load of the heart, in the effort to get oxygenated blood to the entire body. The result can be a heart attack or a stroke.
My Two-Cents: (opinions);
I'm not anti-pharmacy...I'm pro-common sense. I've known two people who take 15 to 30 pills a day...A DAY! In my view, these people have gone over the line...and I think America is becoming a big drunk tank with drugs...legal drugs at that! Just take a drug for everything that's bothering you!
In America, we live in a land of choices...and I had a choice back in 1970, whether to smoke or not to smoke! I chose to quit smoking. In 2001, I had a choice whether to lose 40 pounds or look like a lard-ass...I chose to lose 40 pounds...and I never gained it back. And now, in 2009...I am confronted with the problem of high cholesterol. I, now have a choice of to do nothing about it; to take chemicals that will probably give me cancer; OR to treat it as naturally as I can. I chose to treat it as naturally as I can, and that's where olive oil comes in.
I've always had an open mind to change for the better, and nows my chance to put that ideal into practice. I've chosen yet another lifestyle change...and I have chosen to learn and use olive oil for its benefits.

Millions of people around the world suffer by stomach problems and related diseases. Very serious, is the gastric ulcer disease. As it is known the use of olive oil in nutrition is a beneficial factor for the function of the digestive system due to its property of keeping low the percentage of HCL in our stomach. Thus, the olive oil helps the normal function of the digestive system reducing to minimum the chances of ulcer creation and other relative diseases, not to mention that is the best natural medicament for the fight against constipation.
My Two-Cents (opinions)
Over the last few years, I've cut my red meat intake by 90%, and what's left over is a little ground beet, which is the lean variety. Over the years, I've never had a constipation problem...that is...until May 11, 2009, when I was taken (by ambulance) to the emergency room! What a horrible day, as severe constipation took the wind out of me for over seven hours, and I spent eight hours in the emergency room that day and lost 10-12 pounds. The reader can read about the ordeal at the following direct link; The title of the article;Constipation: Saying Hello to a Costly Enema! http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=48149
When I got the three x-rays of the stomach that day, the doctor said everything was fine. That was a relief to me, as I was quite concerned...as the digestive system is the work horse of the body for all of us. So, there were plenty of positive things that came out of my little trip to the ER.
I've always been a postive thinker, and when something negative happens to me like this ER incident, I try to find something postive in the situation, etc. After leaving the ER at three in the morning, and the next day, I did find at least eight postive things from the trip to the ER. One of those things, was to learn more about the benefits of olive oil and to do research and to start using it on a regular basis, etc. Another small lifestyle change was in order here. I didn't want to go through this ordeal at the ER again, and my doctor didn't know why this happened to me and I didn't know either. So, something like this can happen to anyone!
When I met with my doctor in June, 2009, she had good news for me, as far as the cholesterol was concerned. So good, if fact, that she let me cut the dosage in half...and that's what I wanted. If I can't get rid of the medication...at least I can try to cut the dosage, etc., and in this case from 20mg. to 10 mg. That's an improvement, and I plan to do away with this medication by October, 2009 when I meet with my doctor again...at least that's my goal.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm not a pill-popper, and I don't expect to be knocking on the door at the Betty Ford Center anytime soon! I MUST reduce my intake of chemicals wherever I can, and I've already done so with other medications I take.
For several years now, I've eaten olives with salads, but for the first time in June, 2009, I bought a bottle of virgin olive oil, which is rather pricey. But, that's okay, because I want to see those cholerterol numbers come down...and stay down. This has nothing to do with the walking and jogging...I'll still do that as long as i'm able. Remember...I was there to witness the Big Bang...so I'm getting up in years!
By the next meeting with my doctor in October, 2009, I hope to do away with the cholesterol medication altogether...but that's just my goal...and it will just take a little time since I just started with olive oil.
In my view, a person has to be an advocate for themselves, and do the research if necessary. I doctor is not going to prescribe olive oil to anyone...heck...there's no money to be made in olive oil, etc. So, a person has to do what's right for YOU! The doctor isn't going to take all those chemicals, you know! Just because he or she prescribes the chemicals...doesn't mean you have to take them...and you can think for yourself, can't you?
Yes...we all live in a country of choices here in America. In my wellness plan...I had a choice to visit my chiropractor back in 1976...or not to visit my chiropractor. I chose to visit him...and in 2009, I have over 100 visits under my belt in my wellness plan. What I like about them, is that they don't use or prescribe any drugs...it's all natural healing, etc. The reader can learn more at the following article, which is entitled, The Benefits of Chiropractic
Simply stated...America is drowning in chemicals...and I don't want to be part of it! I want to do things naturally for myself if I can.
"In my opinion, however, is that they (herbs) are superiour, 95% of the time, to any pharmaceutical drug." Dr. William Cernan
My father was a perfect example of the lazy in this country. I asked him one day, if he had walked or jogged around the block to get his exercise and his answer was, "Why should I walk or jog around the block...when I can drive!" Today, too many Americans are too lazy to do anything for themselves!
