Who is Paula Abdul? Paula Abdul grew up in the San Fernando Valley, California. She began taking dance lessons when she was eight. She attended Van Nuys High School, where she was senior class president and head cheerleader. After graduating in 1980, she started college at Cal State-Northridge, majoring in TV and radio. After joining the L.A. Lakers cheerleaders, she became head cheerleader/choreographer after only a few months, eventually dropping out of college to dance and choreograph full-time. She was hired by The Jacksons to choreograph their 1984 "Torture" video, the first in a long list of videos and movies she would choreograph. She branched out into singing with her first CD, "Forever Your Girl", which had lackluster sales until the single "Straight Up" exploded onto the charts in December 1988 and she has been a popular singer/dancer ever since. Her popularity increased, when she was a judge on the hit series "American Idol."

Paula Abdul is a dog lover. Actually, she is a Chihuahua lover. She has four Chihuahuas and three of them are rescues — plus "their cousin, who comes during the day. Paula Abdul says she cannot imagine her life without them. "Life would be so unfair. Thank God I don't have to think about it!" stated Abdul in a recent interview.
Dogs release stress and bring joy to the world
Abdul is overwhelmed with gratitude for the happiness, joy and laughter that her dogs have provided for her over the years. She stated that she always tried to go the extra mile hoping to bring happiness into her dog’s lives especially, since they were rescues and their pasts have not been perfect.
Paula loves all dogs not just Chihuahuas
Abdul has had dogs as long as she can remember, including a Schipperke, cocker spaniels, pugs and a Rhodesian ridgeback (besides the Chihuahuas) and supports the dogs’ charities and helps and participates whenever she has the time.

Abdul is also a dedicated recycler and was green "ahead of the time," with eco-conscious concert tours from which she donated proceeds to environmental causes.

Is their body wiggling out of control? Are they spinning around in circles, or manic jumping? Is your dog displaying anxious panting? Are they staring intently? Do they have shallow breathing? Do they seem to be head-oriented, instead of body-oriented? These are all signs of tension, to varying degrees of escalation. Your goal should be to spot warning signs early and nip them in the bud by taking steps to calm the situation. As soon as the tension in your dog has escalated along with the flow of stimulation, you cannot expect your dog to listen to you, and it becomes your job to bring them back down to earth.
Teach your dog to relax with some soothing music. Soothing music can go a long way in helping your dog to learn to settle.
