Leave me alone so that I can sit and embrace this pain

Alone is where I sit and think

And the thoughts are overwhelming

Wishing for an interruption

If only someone would break the silence

How frightening it is here alone

Quiet no movement all around,

Expect for this ceiling fan

Leave me alone so that I can get pass this heart ache

Wondering how the distance will cure the longing

Trying not to give in to the urge to reach for you

Knowing my touch will only ease the pain temporarily

Mortified by the damage this brings

They suggested I sit alone

To find me a place alone

When alone is what brought me to this point

It’s like a doctor in the hospital

A pastor behind the pulpit, lonely in the mist of a crowd

They privately long for a source of healing and deliverance

The need for the mind body and soul to be replenished

For the draining to stop before there is nothing left to give

And the antidote I abused so now I’m told to let it go

Left alone to embrace the pain of deception

To recall the broken pieces others trample on

Wishing they would just stop walking for a moment

To notice that my spirit they’ve crushed

Can you see my soul is fragmented among the shattered glass

I’ve been left here alone

Wishing that one, just one person could understand

Why it is imperative that I can’t nor should I be

Left here alone

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
