"...this is when we grow / When the silence can teach / As we are still and know"

Poem Artwork

The Meaning of the Night

At the close of the day

When the door of the night

Opens to the unknown

Illusions fall away

Fade softly with the light

And we are left alone

To sit before a plate

Of things to think about

So much to contemplate

Hope for...  dream of...  and doubt

We try to penetrate

The riddle of it all

The mystery of fate

And end up feeling small

Yet this is when we grow

When the silence can teach

As we are still and know

And unselfconscious reach

With no one to impress

What light hides from our eyes

And thus blessed then we bless

When from the dark we rise

Beautiful, Steven! Yes, Miss Defy, and some would say we should be satisfied with what's on our plates. I suppose there is a comfort in that...

"We try to penetrate
The riddle of it all"

So true, my friend; if we are not too afraid to go there. Your poetry is always so compelling and engaging and so very meaningful, Steive. All I can say is thank you. I am humbly honored for your comments on my weekly "poem." Unlike you, words to "put on the page" don't come easily to me. I am grateful for your being willing to comment and I value your friendship. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
