"I keep my cards close and I mean to play"

Poem Artwork

If You Want To

What a crazy ramble this life has been
And I suspect not nearly over yet
With so much seen some better left unseen
But what I have seen I will not forget

Nor would I change a moment anyway
In a beautiful game without regret
I keep my cards close and I mean to play
So if you want to play awhile come on
The night is clear and it is warm inside
You might as well stay awhile until dawn
Make yourself at home and enjoy the ride

My finger feels freer without a ring
Once I was lonely but now I am not
For freedom is better than anything
I just got sentimental and forgot

Nobody cares about me like I do
But you can stay with me if you want to

This is a powerful statement, my friend. Love, peace, and all good things to you,

To times of sentimental forgetting can be nice, then again, they can be deadly. Nice one.

I love to read your work, there is so much said in each poem...as if many stories unfold as one reads the words. My finger feel freer without a ring...my mom always said this exact thing, and still does. I like your line freedom is better than anything, we can trapped or weighted down by many things, people, debt, habits...this list could go on and on...I know many people who would love to feel free from various things...this is a wonderful write and again so much said in so few lines...your an awesome writer...
Blessings,

Beautiful poem:
Nobody cares about me like I do
This line is correct but only because God cares about you more than you do. Keep writing. It is great food for thought.
God Bless,
Lew

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
