Sheltering Shadows
Within sheltering shadows waits the light Until the time comes to dawn the new day It nestles there in the heart of the night Until the time comes to come out and play
Then the sun and the moon change their places One looking forward the other behind Yin yang opposite-attracted faces Without which the sky would be cold and blind
When the sun goes to bed the moon rises Or so it would seem from here on the ground That they share a bed is no surprise as All of their doings are done in the round
Until the time comes to come out and play It nestles there in the heart of the night Until the time comes to dawn the new day Within sheltering shadows waits the light
Wonderful write Steve and brings to mind a saying used in the submarines know as hot-bunking, which simply means that one bed was shared by two people on shifts, as one got out of bed to go to work the other crawled in to get his sleep. When I read this poem it made me realize how closely related all things in this world are. Well done.
