"No one in the shadows of after-all"

Poem Artwork

To Be Lonely

This is how it is then to be lonely
At the end of the day it settles in
Where I thought I saw someone was only
No one in the shadows of after-all
And nothing in spite of what might have been
Or if anyone my own reflection
On shards of mirrors broken in the fall

Mortality my original sin
And darkened mirrors in each direction
Analogous to the elements of
Earth water air and fire faith hope and love
As well as time and space and life and death
Seen dimly in the half-light from above
And oxidizing slowly with each breath

This is how it is then to be lonely
On shards of mirrors broken in the fall
At the end of the day it settles in
Where I thought I saw someone was only
Mortality my original sin
No one in the shadows of after-all
And nothing in spite of what might have been

This is very, very good. I can feel the depth of despair and you chose just the right photo to go with the poem.

A real thought-provoker, Steven. Fine images woven through
the pain of revelation.

Lonliness is just a state of mind, love yourself and others will love you. Find something to do; someone to help; love your creator and he will show you how to love; it all starts with you. I live alone bu not lonely Marguerite

You expressed that well. But, take a look into that mirror again. If you can see Jesus standing beside you the lonelyness is vanquished.
God Bless,

Yes my brother. You express excruciatingly what it is to be lonely. "They" say beings like you and I choose this. I know I don't and I'm pretty sure you don't either. I don't know why it has to be so. Perhaps we chose the "wrong" ones for us some time ago and now, we seek. Love to you my brother,

Regis
