When they asked me what I wanted to be When I grew up back when I was a kid I answered them unhesitatingly That my destiny seemed quite plain to me To be eccentric (whatever I did)
And as it seemed then so it is today I turned out something like I thought I would Eccentric if not insane all the way But the lotus unfolded as it should To bloom the brighter as my hair turns grey
So who's to say eccentric isn't good? The further you float from society And the less you care about what "they" say The easier it becomes to break free And make your own rules for this game you play
Your own game which no one has played before And if no one else understands the rules Soon enough you won't need them anymore Whatever you do don't be like those fools With no sense of absurdity at all
Now that to me would be insanity I'd rather be a lotus in the fall Being eccentric (whatever I do) Unfolding as I should but I might see If maybe I could find a friend like you
Sounds great to me, Steven! I'm not one to march to the same beat as everyone else, either -- does that make me eccentric? Gee, I guess it does. Hats off to eccentricity! YeeHaa! Great poem, my friend.

CJ
