"And you just have to deal with me somehow"

Poem Artwork

Your Other

can you handle the truth?

That erstwhile ecstasy of being me
Makes present life worth present agony
And births the hope my former happiness
Having gone could come back nevertheless
And that presently something might go right

But something has always been right I guess
Rising in the dark while sinking from sight
Just as the sun has always come and gone
From day through night to day from dusk to dawn
The vessel overflows its emptiness

I live as me so you can be
The star which you believe you are
My old makes possible your new
But I knew how to be a star
Before you ever met you
And I will not forget you

I may be an extra in your movie
But I am a star in mine
An image beyond your reality
But yours is no heaven mine is no hell
I enjoy how I can see
I rock your world a little: I can tell

Yours is flashy mine is fine
Unseen therefore underestimated
And those who will not see will find it strange
This is my movie released unrated
In which I smile my silent threat of change

From day through night to day from dusk to dawn
The vessel overflows its emptiness
I may be an extra in your movie
But I am a star in mine
I live as me so you can be
The star which you believe you are

I will not be your mother
But you seem to have that covered just now
So I will be your Other
And you just have to deal with me somehow
So be mindful what you do

This is my movie released unrated
In which I smile my silent threat of change

The vessel overflows its emptiness
