Two lonely souls across the universe
Their small sparks darkened by despair
On parallel trajectories to worse
From worst (since they had just been there)
Encountered one another from afar
And falling nightly found one another each a star
But lovers know that stars are far away
Each a diamond to the eye
Deterred by dust or dream or day
Its clear sight a gift from the midnight sky
It seemed a starless midnight when
Small sparks were brightened by surprise
To see a star and it was then
We realized and realize
As lovers now that stars are not so far
Falling nightly we find one another each a star
