dum spiro spero
I love everybody the way they are
Nor do I preach or have something to sell
I am somebody who stares at a star
Somebody who does not believe in hell
Going there seems to be going too far
To me enough trouble hanging on now
And heaven enough with others here who
Like me believe we can hang on somehow
The breadline stands the first three Saturdays
Of the month but never those beyond that
Third the deadline always of breadline days
And I can do it I can get through it
But when the breadline reaches trinity
Then I despite what my poverty says
Recover the lost cost of dignity
Discover a happier habitat
From this particular generalize
On a Saturday numbered more than three
Though it takes me awhile to realize
And I may not believe it I am free
To stare at a star and to make it mine
And let the breadline go on deadline day
To forget it to know it let it go
When Saturday comes then go right on by
Go without but at least outside the line
So when I do not go is when I know
I do as who I am as free to be
Able to do it when I get to it
Get through it again and then get away
When I do there what they tell me where I
Who once did well then did good now do fine
Three Saturdays a month until I die
Hanging on and hoping and muddling through
Just us to hang on to hope for the best
The bipolarity of me and you
Not really manic if really depressed
But if you stare at stars with open eyes
You see them fall but you can see them rise
And we can hang on and get through this too
Remembering love forgetting the rest
Hang on
