I had the ship but it went down
In Orange my hometown
It went down hard and so did I
Who tried and failed to die
An unsuccessful suicide

And when I was the captain of
The ship I thought that love
Above all kept it from the rocks
But bankers changed the locks
To shut me out from my inside

So I went to the madhouse then
Was shut outside again
Where I have been since then to be
Homeless for poetry
Out of the womb from room to room

I had the ship but it went down
And when it did I cried
The tears that I had saved for then
Wish I had now but in
This desert afterlife have dried

I lost the ship that cost my mind
Before but not behind
And here I am in spite of me
Gone mad one free to be
When now is then again I find

Does the house always win? You bet
I did and what it cost
Was finding everything I lost
Still unsuccessful yet
The ship will not let me forget

And the ship is waiting now
To take me home somehow

Thank you all and each for everything for all these years, since 2002.

I can't afford to be here anymore, so, as of the 15th of this month, I guess I'll disappear from here.

I hope you'll visit me on Facebook.

I love boats and tales about them.

I love poetic stories even more.

Your poetic adventure touched me to the core.

Multiple Blessings to you Steven, to whom God certainly has a plan!

I'm glad your suicide failed, Steven. How else could I read your fine poetry, especially the ones about the dugongs, dusty dogses, and that tuba player out there in the desert? Write on!

Love ya!

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
