for David Ishaya Osu

I. in my bones

My bones feel hollow
Like the bones of birds
Though fortunately
Bearing little weight
So carry me through
What little I do

Little required of
Them but life and love
As I weigh the words
That create my fate
Aright if lightly
My bones carry me

Though what they carry
Is temporary
Life goes as love goes
On who loves me knows
So because someone
Loves me I go on

Love I feel in my
Bones too real to die

II. home

I lost it all one day
In fall when all was gone
Though I was so went on
Through death to life away

Had to leave home behind
Got it taken from me
Thought I was homeless then
Though home did not agree

Not homeless I guess when
On the edge of it all
Where I am always now
Home is a state of mind

But near homeless somehow
Though here now then again
In fall when I recall
How there it used to be

Cost when I had to go
My lost mind then to find
By going through to know
Now where I went is free

Nowhere though everywhere
Is home so I am there

III. 58 OK

Having gotten through to
58 OK
All along a long way
Me in the making
I have been ages not
So hot I forgot
More often than not thought
I ought to confess
Confiding in you to
Having been a mess

But turning my learning
Now in November
Autumnally taking
Time to remember
Reconstructively what
All in all in fall
Got better after all

The way out was in
To now through never then

Never better than late
OK 58
Becoming 59
OK more or less
No SOS I guess
Coming along fine
But learning by turning

My teeth are not aching
At least not today
My head does not bother
Me but brings other
Things to mind I find now
Brought me through then that
Got through my head as how
Love taught me somehow
My heart is not breaking
But shedding its skin

Now or never when
I live to love again
