I. The Phoenix Winking

Karmic debt from younger days
Crime that pays at the time but stays
Has been burned away like chaff

In the embers I can see
The phoenix turn and wink at me
Thinking what I am thinking

Death and I have had a laugh
Or two at who I used to be
Out of debt without regret

Nor looking back but forward free
To be older wiser me
Death and I the other brother

Understanding one another
Turning like the phoenix winking

II. Now I Remember

Trying to tell myself by trying to tell you
Aspiring to something I too hope someday to do
I write about forgetting and not regretting
Getting it in general and yet without getting
Some things in particular I keep forgetting

When it comes to getting it though I am letting
Go of things forgetting them or trying to and yet
Without even trying remember to regret
Remembering then even better now than ever
The trick to not regret but I am not there yet

To forget without regret no doubt the it to get
But until then somehow between now and never
Because then is then whenever it was or will be
But never is for now is never then you see
Nor do forever then or whenever now agree

The it to get forgetting not regretting will
Be what I remember I will not forget until
When forgetting letting go remembering still
And not regretting but letting go now forever
When how it will be then is now will be again

Because it always is so was and will be when
I remember now albeit in December

III. Second Chance

In the stream of the dream of consciousness
To let go and go with the flow I guess
Is the thing to do speaking as one who
Has earned and learned the hard way more is less
Who let go and is gone who has moved on

I had to go because I had to grow
I had to be asked in order to know
I had to be tasked with life and death so
I could do what I had to do and you
Would be able to read about it now

Sometimes you have to die to find out how
To live like one given a second chance
To stream the dream like Steven Curtis Lance
Who let go to go with the flow I guess
In the stream of the dream of consciousness

IV. Take It

Take a deep breath and make it or break it but take it
No one else knows the answers either though some fake it
All you have to do is ask the questions mindfully
And then is when you and the greatest minds all agree

My suggestion is to question everything you see
With an open mind and leave behind what is unkind
What is unloving and above all leave behind fear
To live for love and always be of the now and here

Know as you go the only way out of this is in
I have no doubt as I went through a lot to find out
The hard way then the way it is when you have to learn
But I got through and so will you who get it in turn

So go on in as though you know into the within
On the never ending journey that ends to begin
Arc like a spark across the dark and then end again
All the way home from home on the way through out to in

Ahead as behind you will find it what you make it
So when something looks like it needs shaking up shake it
No one else knows the answers either though some fake it
Take a deep breath and make it or break it but take it

V. Dust

Not much but dust but dust must suffice
Things once forgotten I remember
Giving advice after thinking twice
Thinking thrice it might be nice to share
Not knowing but taking what I bring
What learned the hard way from everywhere
I have gathered if I bothered to
Write up this my living down for you

As by allusion my illusion
Is exposed I suppose confusion
Is the order of the day but may
Wonderings undertaken for good
Not be mistaken but understood
Despite my quite unusual style
May I be able to help a bit
Maybe a laugh for the hell of it

And maybe a smile to stay awhile
Remembered in your own December
