I. Pedigree

Brilliant like a diamond of ice
Crystalline if you know what I mean
My father the hitman was not nice

And some say how I am like him now
Though I am who I am and somehow
Mean to be me as well as can be

With an unusual pedigree

II. State of Mind

When the doors are locked and the guns are cocked
I know it is time to lie low
And when the time comes to throw out the bums
I know it becomes time to go

Although I exist because I insist
So then I go on even so
As around and around the killing ground
The only way out is to grow

Transcending the ties whereby we bind
Our fate to a state of mind

III. Situation Comedy

Whatever situation I may find myself in
When first I find the rhythm then the beat can begin

Keeping time with the universe for better or worse
I always get to be though never get to rehearse
Am always on as life goes on until I am gone

And when I understand this I wonder then again
But it never gets to me because I get to be

I who wonder if I understand may never know
But what I get to be is the star of my own show
In my situation comedy of being me

And you as you are as the star of your own show too
In your situation comedy as I see you

IV. Donuts for Dinner

I decided to have some
Donuts for dinner
An idea whose time had come
In as a winner

So I eat though I become
Thinner and thinner
Because it was what it does
Or at least to me

As it does that do as who
Done to entre nous
As two donuts did and do
In and out to be

In winning out a loser
A beggar but a chooser

V. Right

The last cigarette of the night
So it has to be right
Till a nicotine warning
First thing in the morning
Will get me up early and bright

Very nice poems indeed! Deep, thoughtful and real they come across to me, so thank you. Grtz, D.T.
