Whenever I pull a Pall Mall from the pack
The dogs get excited get ready to attack
The rat that scorned them they had warned before
Waiting out there laughing at them they just know
Having an itch and wanting to scratch
That imaginary rat unwary
But if real I imagine that he or she
Would be wary of this rat reality
Though the dogs know what they want when they go
Caught up in whatever they might catch
Dogs of the desert in the desert no more
In the gritty city now who know what to do
How at smoke break two abreast to burst then through the door
To exercise their curiosity
