I
I know not to ever say never
Only whatever nor alone forever
Necessarily nevertheless
I never mind being alone I confess
I like it I guess having been with some
My regret of whom I have not yet overcome
II
I do my best with what I have and
So have enough for me
I wonder though I understand
Having nearly not been to be
Recalling what was not I forgot
Till long along the way
How what I have now still is what
I will do my best with today
I have what I need and not what by
Greed some ask but I do not my
Life took a shaking to make me tough
Enough to be enough
III
At first it was only Marisol
But at second lonely after all
Bowser joins us and now we are three
Of us up here on the bed where we
In a humanistic canine pack
Rest in our empathy back to back
To back as I see how I agree
Now as long as they leave room for me
IV
The clock ticks locked in an antique chest
The Gothic arches rise and fall
Reaching east and west each tries its best
Toward respiration or the rest
Of the tasks it asks to make it go
Respiring until the fire is gone
The engine still aspiring on and on
The hold is empty but always was
Because of what the captain does
Or in the case of this one does not
Never fatter no matter what
But graceful and all is well below
And still me as I was and will be
As the ghost in this machine is me
V
Yucca Valley is a beach
Though there is no sea
But the sparkly sand I reach
My hand in could be as beach would be
Once the floor of the sea or
Whatever before
A beach in Yucca Valley
Is to be the strand of sand for me
