The Long View If you take the long view like I do (or did By the time you read this) you can see Well enough to tell your ego from your id Tell your superego let it be Until it gets it tell it to take its hell And go let it go I learned too well The hard way the only way I ever do When wrong was lonely in the long view Then if you live long enough you will get rid Of anything inconsequential Like me when many become existential Not only philosophically When you find out the only way out is in Shedding your skin again and again But not lonely (not only) then to be free Like me maybe an elderly kid If I take the long view like I do (or did) I can see you take and make it too I can see us be as far as we can see If I take the long view like I do Steven Curtis Lance
