Sunday
Go to the ant thou sluggard
I heard myself say
Wondering if I were one
To an ant as I lay
In the sun on the Sunday
Of Memorial Day
Through the birds some words I heard
From Sunday far away
Once remembered in the sun
Not in church but neither
Was this ant either
I went to the ant and was
Understood because
As if sent as if to say
What they meant it said:
Let each be its own way
You who seem a slugabed
Are busy in your head
Writing poetry
Busy but invisibly
Words for other birds
As busy as a bee
Or in other words
Busy like an ant like me
Others go to church instead
Let us let us be
