The Toadstool and the Tower

Though hate has had great power
Fate says no (too small)

Having had its way before
With us but surprise
Not having it anymore
Now the people rise

The power of the tower
Falling of the weight
Of keeping straight all its lies
What not to recall
When the scales fall from our eyes

To see something new
Coming true we feared too late
Got here anyway
If not a moment too soon

After all in fall
Underneath the harvest moon
Wonder underway
With love about to flower
Brought about by fate

Bringing in the flowering
Of love over hate
Flowering empowering
To be worth the wait

Though hate has had great power
May everyone learn
Whatever we were meant to

Each of us in turn
From a black hole devouring
All that made us great
Into insult comedy

More than anything
Of many this bothers me
Being otherwise

May love teach us what to do
To appreciate
Us more for what we went through
Now we know what for
To remember what we knew

Never to return
To the dark place we went to
May we nevermore
Go back where the toadstool grew

Fate says no (too small)
Too little the hour too late
For our would-be king
Let the people celebrate
Getting through this thing

The toadstool and the tower
Falling after all

A nicely rendered image of our current state of leadership. Let us hope our agony is short as more and more people of this country are waking up promises unkempt and lies covered over.

"Getting through this thing". I love that line, Steven. Yes, we've got to get back to something that makes sense!! This has got to be another of your best!

Love ya!

Jane
