I saw a red rocket crashed in the sand
And crushed like a cigarette
Put out like a warning that morning and
A sign I would not forget
"Do It Right Not Over" as I recall
I read it said on the wall
That bound the secrets at the Proving Ground
But overhead a red rocket trying
To do it right was flying
That sign I read and what it said to me
Has been sound advice I found
Out from the Cold War in the after all
Where I went subsequently
Something not forgotten yet
A clarifying but terrifying
Flying thing I came to see
As an exercise in futility
When I came to understand
Another duck-and-cover memory
That red rocket in the sand
Love ya!
