I Knew My worried family Would say I was too sensitive Too frail a thing to live I was the Princess and the Pea The princess anyway That lacking any common sense To feel reality The way I did was too intense What would become of me? They wondered if I were the way That I would seem to be But crazy understandably Was what they could not say They never knew quite what to do About me but I knew And grew up to write poetry Steven Curtis Lance
