Spring Knows Best

Longer days to wonder about
Out here to figure it out
When 1:59 becomes 3:00
Then is a good time for me
To begin to think about spring
Life and death and everything
Winter helped me to understand

In the middle of the night
The riddle of returning light
Turning up digitally
The light returning overnight
By an hour anyway
I wish I may I wish I might
For a little longer and
With sunshine stronger every day

When 2 AM on Sunday
May not be because it is 3
Then may I begin to see
About what spring no doubt would know
If life goes on now to go
On to find out what spring knows best
How to go on for the rest

I wish they would once and for all just settle it halfway. Turn the clock ahead half hour instead of an hour, then never needs to change the time again. Why can't they do that?

The seasons are perennial and we were built to adapter them. Time and springing forward and backward are all human inventions that both enthrall us and imprison us.

Let spring be sprung. When 2 becomes 3 made me think of if 6 were 9.
